On March 22, 2017, my partner, Kyra, and I had our first site visit with Philip Holbrook, the executive director of Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta. During this meeting, Holbrook explained to us the history, mission, and goals of Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta, while also stating his role within the organization as the only paid employee.
Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta is a non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs for low-income, elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged homeowners within the local community, through the help of volunteers. The organization hopes to complete 25 projects over the next six months with the help of the Learning by Giving Foundation’s grant.
Holbrook shares that he has three years of grant writing experience, but is excited to try something new and partner with us in the grant writing process.
Throughout our meeting, Holbrook willing communicated information about types, formatting, and logistics of grants. When talking about the parts of a grant proposal, Holbrook was open to collaborating with us and equally sharing all the responsibilities to make this grant proposal possible.
We are excited to work with Philip and the Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta organization during this grant writing process! Philip has plenty of experience and knowledge that will not only help their organization receive this grant, but also give Kyra and I valuable knowledge that will aid us in our future endeavors!
