Today, Morgan and I had our first site visit with our grant partners Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg. We met with Assistant Director Lindsey Douglas. BBBSH supports children facing adversity with one-on-one mentoring relationships all over the county. This past year, they served 638 children, making them the largest BBBS agency in Virginia. Morgan and I are excited to work with them and assist them in writing their grant application.
This is their facility in an old house downtown! They have converted the rooms into offices, creating a very unique space.
Lindsey provided us with an overview of their organization. We also decided on a specific project they would like funding to go towards. Morgan and I were able to participate in the beginning steps of creating the grant.
Lindsey treated us like she treats any professional potential grant partner. We got a folder with their past annual reports, contact information, and a booklet highlighting some of their big little companionships.
We are excited to continue to meet with Lindsey over the grant application writing process and be as involved as possible. BBBSH has applied for many grants over the year, so we are excited to learn all they have to offer!
