The four Rs are principles that help the program make decisions, evaluate its progress, and improve it. They also allow families to have an equal say in what the program does for them. The four R’s are responsible, relevant, respectful, and relationship based. Responsible includes using good quality data to make decisions. Relevant includes getting information that is meaningful, valid, and culturally sensitive. Respectful includes honoring the family’s beliefs, values, and culture. Relationship based includes working together with the staff, family, and community to improve the program. The four Rs are great tools to use while the class helps our agencies write grants to make their program better for the people that they serve by focusing on and being sensitive on the clients and their needs.
